From Amber…
Two of my favorite scriptures, not sure why. They always make me think hard about my life, my relationships, and my purpose for being on planet earth. Proverbs 17:16 “Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no hear to it?” And “Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.”
What do you think God wants FOR our lives? I woke up with this question a few days ago and the phrasing struck me. The question wasn’t ‘What does God want us to do with our lives?’ not ‘How does God want us to live?’ Which is very commonly how we are asked how we live our lives for God, what do we believe, or how we govern our behavior. Instead, this question ‘What do you think God wants for our lives?’ implies while we are living. Is it piety, devotion, obedience, our faith? Do we often wonder what God wants us to experience while we are living? Saying that God wants to know us is really a kind of misnomer. God made you; He knows everything about you, there is no barrier between Him and you. There is no God getting to us when we get to heaven. God is with us now, knows us as much as He will ever be with us or know us. That will not change in the world to come. We CANNOT add anything to God NOR take anything from Him. This world, right now while we are living, is the vestibule for the world to come. This idea begins to make sense. God has created the world and everything in it. He placed us here when and where He planned to. What does God want FOR our lives while we are alive and when we are alive? What does He want us to experience? Resting in Him, trusting Him means acceptance of where you are and who you are. Further is means an acceptance that He alone has provided everything you need to live now. The awe and wonders of life are found in living.
